How will accomplishing these objectives support your success in management? What risks or challenges might a manager encounter if they have not mastered these objectives? Explain.
These objectives would help me understand business better and help me decide to make better decisions when it comes to business in general. This would also help me to apply better critical thinking skills when it comes to certain situations managers face in businesses as well. Managers would face many challenges when it comes to these objectives, they won’t know how to manage and apply their critical skills to certain situations surrounding the business in general. It would would be hard to be a manager without all of these skills.
2. How are leadership and management similar? different?
Leadership deals with leading a group of people, whereas management focuses on accountability. Management fails to focus on responsibility of people while leadership always is responsible for people. Leadership and management both entail working with people and it surrounds the people only. They also influence the work structure and environment “Smart, Kimble, Birch, Smith and Whitaker (2015).
3. What are some examples of ethical challenges that leaders and mangers face in today’s global business environment?
Some of the ethical challenges leaders and managers face involve working conditions, employee interactions and decisions regarding hiring and firing and promotions (Morley, 2018). When it comes to leadership consistency, policies grey areas and atmosphere are challenges as well. Some ethical challenges for managers can be discrimination, ethical responsibility and fraud (Xaxx, 2017).
4. Are leaders born or made?
Leaders can be naturally born leaders, or they can be trained to be effective leaders. There are many different styles and characteristics that can affect one’s ability to lead. Just because a person has great skills to perform his or her job doesn’t determine a persons ability to be a great leader. People must determine the leadership style that works best for them “Smart, Kimble, Birch, Smith and Whitaker (2015).
