Conduct an internet search for a sex offender case. You can choose a male adult sex offender (offender 18 and older; any age victim(s))  Discuss the following:

1.         The taxonomy/typology of that rapist and his/her modus operandi

2.         The possible causes of sexual offending

3.         Criminologists do not make diagnosis; however, we do conduct risk assessments. Conduct a mini static-factor risk assessment of this offender, using the Static 99R (see urls). Make sure to use the Coding Rules!

Using what you learned this week and your professional opinion, comment on either the Jerry Sandusky or Mary Kay Letourneau case. What role do criminologists play in these types of cases?
