Be-Bop Style of Music.

(1) There are several composers, musicians, and soloists who eventually took part in the “Bop” movement. Select three musicians (Dorothy Dandridge, Eric Dolphy, Miles Davis) and pick one-to-two of their works that you find the most appealing.  Listen and discuss the songs in your response; include the following information: who wrote it; when and where was it performed; and include, if possible, a link to a video performance.

(2) In your own words, describe the difference of compositional style between the Big Band/Swing and the Be-Bop Style of Music.  Which do you find more attractive to listen?  Why and why not? As you listen to various songs and compositions by these gifted musicians, write down your feelings and thoughts.
