Healthcare Reform in Two States

Part I: The world is becoming smaller and smaller and when companies look to expand they often look outside their original footprint. Rasmussen Healthcare Systems is looking to expand their system to another state. To help advise Rasmussen on this decision, you will write 4-5 pages that compare and contrast the healthcare reform policies of the state where you reside and another state of your choice. Please keep in mind the position and facility you selected. Make sure to include the following:

  1. Discuss the purpose of each state’s reform.
  2. Describe a minimum of three specific examples of similarities and differences in healthcare reform policies in the two states.
  3. Discuss in detail some of the ethical issues and moral disputes in each state’s reform.
  4. Discuss your recommendation on whether Rasmussen Healthcare Systems should expand to the second state.
  5. This portion of your assignment will require you to research and examine information from various sources. Use a minimum of five credible sources for your paper, with three being an academic source from the Rasmussen College Online Library (don’t forget to include in-text citations throughout your paper with paraphrasing or quoting).
  6. Make sure to include your APA formatted reference page.

Part II: PowerPoint is typically the application of choice when conducting a meeting. There are many philosophies on how to create an effective PowerPoint, so do some research on the dos and don’ts. Then create a professional PowerPoint that you would present to the management team at your location that highlights your research. SkillSurfer in the online tutoring platform offers beginner, intermediate, and advanced tutorials on Microsoft Office products. Make sure to include the following in your PowerPoint:

  1. Length of PowerPoint is up to the student.
  2. Highlight specific policy changes in each state’s reform.
  3. Highlight each similarity and difference.
  4. Highlight your final recommendation on whether Rasmussen Healthcare Systems should expand to the other state.
  5. Use the Notes area on each slide as needed to expand on the key points.

The chief of police of the City of San Bernardino County Police Department (California) has approached your team to develop an Interagency Mental Health and Crisis Intervention Response Plan that includes local, state, and federal crisis intervention agencies and other emergency and private resources for the purpose of responding to a terrorist event or natural disaster. The chief has informed you that he is concerned that many cities, including his own, do not have a written mental health response plan for critical incidents.

Create a 12 slide Microsoft® PowerPoint® presentation to present to the chief of police that details your interagency Mental Health and Crisis Intervention Response Plan. Consider demographics, resources, and needs of the department and community San Bernardino County while creating the plan.

Include the following in your presentation:

  • Introductory section on the various types of critical incidents and their physical, financial, and societal effect on victims, first responders and communities and how this plan can address that impact.
  • What local, state, and federal Human Service Delivery organizations you would choose to be a part of this plan and why you specifically chose these organizations.
  • Outline of the specific mental health and crisis response for a critical incident discussing the various types of possible critical incidents that this plan would apply to.
  • What the specific crisis response duties of those individual organizations will be in the event of a terrorist attack or major catastrophic event and how they will work with your department in responding to a critical incident.
  • If one organization should be the lead in the event, and how that responsibility would be decided

Assume that you are a social worker for the Department of Children and Families in your state, and you have been asked to present information about a public assistance program of your choice to a group of volunteers who will be working with low-income families. Prepare a PowerPoint presentation in which you cover the following information about the program:

As a group, (using a Group Discussion in Blackboard, email, text, Zoom, Skype, etc.) share your responses from STEP 1 and then:

  1. Discuss among the group your responses for 1 –4.
  2. Do all members agree on these stereotypes?
  3. Is the stereotype helpful or hurtful to products which help perpetuate the stereotype?
  4. Do you believe that consumers are aware that this stereotype is associated with the product?
  5. How do you think awareness of the stereotype influencesconsumers?
  6. How do you think awareness of the stereotype influences how you and/or others interact with consumers who use the product with the stereotypeattached?
  7. What theories, if any, have we covered which might support the use of thestereotype.

The Team Leader with the help of the group, will develop the recap of the group discussion. Identify the three (3) stereotypes which the group feels are the most relevant to healthcare. The review of those three (3) stereotypes should be no more than 6 PowerPoint slides. Clearly and succinctly develop your responses as a group to discussion questions 1-3. Each recap slide should include the stereotype, image(s) and the response to the discussion questions. Provide information regarding consensus and highlight differences.

The Team Leader will compile all of the individual response slides gathered from Blackboard Group File Exchange and will include them along with the group review slides. The Team Leader on the cover slide will identify the assignment and assign the participation percentage of the group members for the assignment. The cover slide will also include the group number and group member names.

As a GROUP select a common consumer package product (e.g., soap, paper towels, soft drinks, canned vegetables, etc.) which is readily available in stores each of you can find close by. As a GROUP discuss your experiences in the retail environment with this product. The project will require each group to develop an in-store marketing campaign (this is known as shopper marketing) for the product. You will provide a PPT presentation of this campaign as your final semester project.

In-store of shopper marketing campaigns require the marketer to try to understand from the shopper perspective the problem this shopper is attempting to solve with the purchase of this product.

Consider such items as:

• Why does he/she need this product?

• Why does he/she need this product now?

• Why this product from this brand and not another?

• Is this product for the shoppers use or are they buying it for another?

• Does the shopper need other products when they use the product they are purchasing?

Based on the solution you have devised for the shopper create a visual representation of the in-store display you are suggesting. Utilize any other additional products or materials to fully develop a solution for your targeted shoppers. This can all be developed through the use of online imagery. You can however utilize a live store environment if you can gain permission to do so. Provide a visual representation of your solution for the presentation.

Your presentation will consist of the following elements:

1. Description of your targeted shopper. This description should be richly detailed, such that the reader of the description can literally picture the individual. In campaigns I usually develop, we have such a complete understanding of the shopper, we actually provide a name for them. Consider some of the following:

a. Age

b. Gender

c. Marital (relationship) status

d. Number of kids (if any) at home and ages

e. Work status

f. What type of work

g. Income

h. Location of home

i. Type of living environment

j. Own or rent

k. Do they drive?

l. Type of transportation method used

m. Etc.

2. Identification of the need you are trying to solve. What is causing the shopper to have to make this purchase? Why does it have to be done now? Is this to satisfy the shopper or another? Is this purchase important to the shopper or just routine?

3. Based on what is driving the need to make the purchase, identify the “occasion or situation” underlying the shopping need. Is this part of the routine shopping trip? Is it something that is needed for a school project? Is something that the shopper forgot to pick up earlier? Is there a party? … Explain how your in-store solution helps to shopper to manage this underlying need.

4. Describe at least three consumer behavior theories (e.g., role, learning, attitude, personality, etc.) which help to support your in-store solution for the shopper.

5. Detail how each element of your display helps develop an effective solution for the shopper.

6. In the retail environment, stores are often configured differently and have a variety of different square footage ranges. Marketers need to be able to identify how to adapt to multiple retail environments. Provide an example of how you could accommodate a smaller environment by removing one element from the display. Next, provide an example of how you could accommodate a larger environment by adding another item which would help the shopper even more.

Your PPT should contain no more than 15 slides including an introduction, reference, and end slide. Each slide should contain no more than eight (8) lines with each line consisting of no more than eight (8) words. All other materials should be in the notes section. Each slide should contain an image which helps to explain the slides materials.

  • Minimum of 2 academic or government resources with corresponding in-text citations (Dictionaries, Wikipedia, non-academic websites can be used but do not count towards the two in-text citations.)

The Sedition Act of 1918, enacted during World War I, made it a crime to “willfully utter, print, write, or publish any disloyal, profane, scurrilous, or abusive language about the form of the Government of the United States” or to “willfully urge, incite, or advocate any curtailment of the production” of the things “necessary or essential to the prosecution of the war.”

In the Smith Act of 1940, Congress made it a crime to conspire to teach or advocate overthrowing the government by force or to be a member of a group that advocated the violent overthrow of the government.

Activity Instructions

Define, compare, and contrast the three types of sedition. Provide practical examples of each. Identify which of the three you think is most harmful to the United States and describe why. Finally, detail how current technology impacts each of these types of sedition.

Design your work product as an explanatory and professional presentation for criminal justice practitioners. This type of audience expects a well-written, well-planned presentation that is based on a sound rational and introduction, is thoroughly researched and cited, and ends with a succinct conclusion. Your presentation should follow best practices in keeping screens visually attractive yet simple. The presentation text should be supported with thorough documentation that includes citations in the Notes section of each slide.

Presentation Requirements

  • Length: 10-15 slides (the title and reference slides do not count towards the 10-15 slides)
  • A notes section explaining the slide or providing additional depth of topic is necessary (Minimum of 50-100 words for each slide)
  • Title slide
  • References slide – APA format (Minimum of two in-text citations; dictionaries, Wikipedia, non-academic websites can be used but do not count towards the two in-text citations.)
